In only a few glances, you may think that you have been fooled by the numbers in their numbers. However, in this case, let me tell you that the numbers are not fooling. Garmin Pro 70 and Garmin Pro 550 are indeed being priced in the same price class. These two devices can be very valid choices for a budget-friendly dog training system. Even so, Garmin Pro 550 is slightly pricier than Garmin Pro 70. The price gap can be quite significant to some people, usually a hundred bucks or so. Well, is Garmin Pro 550 a lot better than Garmin Pro 70 so that the price increment can be paid off?
The number of dogs you are going to train
Most probably, the first thing that you would want to consider when choosing for the right dog training system is the number of dogs that can be trained simultaneously. Quite surprisingly, Garmin Pro 70 can train more dogs all at once than Garmin Pro 550. Garmin Pro 70 can be connected to up to 6 dogs, while Garmin Pro 550 can only handle 3 dogs at max. If you are somehow limited on budget, Garmin Pro 70 can give you the practicality you are seeking, without spending too much.
Specifications and features
Nevertheless, we certainly want to know about what specs and additional features that each model brings. While Garmin Pro 70 is given the ability to train more dogs simultaneously, Garmin Pro 550 possesses the more in-depth control. Both models can operate up to 1 mile away from the dogs, and both are equipped with BarkLimiter feature that can train your dogs not to bark excessively. However, Garmin Pro 550 has a total of 21 correction levels, with momentary and continuous correction options, plus a vibration correction. Meanwhile, Garmin Pro 70 only has 6 correction levels, all are continuous only, without the vibration correction.

Considering that Garmin Pro 70 is cheaper than Garmin Pro 550, Garmin Pro 70 can be an excellent choice if you want to save some money to handle more than three dogs with a single device. However, it is not as flexible as Garmin Pro 550 in adjustment and control. If you are going to train only three dogs or less, Garmin Pro 550 is great!
