Fluval and Eheim are two big names in the market of quality aquatic products. Eheim has been around for so long since the 1960s, and was the first manufacturer of aquarium suction filter. Fluval is also a veteran with more than 35 years of experience. Thus, we are allowed to expect excellent qualities from their products. On this product comparison, we will compare their products from a similar price point, Fluval 406 and Eheim 2075. Which one will make the better choice?
Fluval 406 is an external filter model with a multi-stage filtration system, consisting of mechanical, chemical, and biological phases. It is great for freshwater as well as saltwater aquariums. It features a sound-dampening impeller design to provide a quiet operation. Equipped already with clog-proof intake strainer, Fluval 406 is coming with Aquastop Valve that allows the users to manually stop water flow without having to disconnect a hose. Fluval 406 has a flow rate of 383 US Gallons per hour and is suitable for aquariums in up to 100 US Gallons. (See also: Fluval G3 Vs 406)
Eheim 2075 is also an external filter model, featuring several layers of filtration; all ensure that no pollutant can pass. It has a prefilter system that helps in reducing the needs to do major cleanings. Eheim 2075 also works quietly enough, comparable to Fluval 406. However, it consumes more electric energy, due to being able to handle larger aquariums (up to 160 US Gallons of capacity). Even so, its maximum flow rate is slightly lower than Fluval 406 (330 US Gallons per hour).
